“To me – old age is always ten years older than I am.” -Bernard Baruch

Old age is a mindset. You’re only as old as you feel. Golden Heart Senior Care Dallas believes in living life to the fullest whether you are 20, 50, or 80. That being said, we’ve decided to write about four things that get better with age…

Technology – Technology is constantly advancing, and some say, exponentially. This will help paint a better picture. In the 19th century, some of the most groundbreaking innovations were the telegraph, locomotive, and electricity. In the 20th century, we discovered the automobile, Internet, and antibiotics. Fast forward to present day where you can live stream a conversation in real time from Australia to Texas. We now have glasses that have internet and computers that can beat us in chess.

Cast Iron Cookware – Cast iron cookware is known to last much longer than most regular skillets, and it stays hotter for longer. So why do cast iron pans get better with age? Well, the cool part about cast iron cookware is that you can season it and the pan preserves the spices and flavors and applies it to future meals.

Wine – Letting expensive wines age generally improves its overall taste (and value.) This is because the aromas, flavors, and colors change over time (similar to whiskeys and scotches.) While most wines today are meant to be opened immediately, some are still worth waiting for.

You – People also get better with age. We acquire knowledge and wisdom and are constantly growing as human beings. Just because you may not be as fast of a runner as you were at age 18, doesn’t mean you can’t be active, either. Embrace your age as if it’s a gift. Don’t let the year on your birth certificate slow you down. Memories are meant to be made throughout your entire life.

What other things can you think of that get better with age? We’d love to hear your ideas.
